Independent Audit Committee
Ross Connolly was appointed to the Tiwi Land Council Independent Audit Committee in 2014 based on his experience in business - as an architect and private practice principal. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Life Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, and has served on a number of Territory and national boards, including other not-for-profit organisations. His connection with the Tiwi Islands began in the late 1970's when he provided architectural services for housing and community facilities while working for the Australian Government.
Deven Patel is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He began his accountancy career in 1972 in London and in 1977 joined KPMG in Darwin. He was appointed audit partner in 1985 and during his career acquired extensive experience in all fields of private practice, in particular, audit, risk and performance management systems. He was also appointed as an Authorised Auditor by the Auditor General of the NT to conduct audits of NT Government Agencies. He retired from KPMG in 2008 and was appointed to the Tiwi Land Council Independent Audit Committee in 2010.
Hugh Bradley came to the Northern Territory in 1970. As a solicitor at Ward Keller he mostly practiced in litigation, with special interests in insurance, work health, defamation, licensing, Aboriginal communities and land right issues. In the late 70’s he ran the first land rights claim in the NT, prior to the introduction of land rights legislation. Hugh was Managing Partner at Ward Keller from 1986 to 1998, and the NT Chief Magistrate from 1998 to 2006. In 2009, he was appointed Chairperson of the Tiwi Land Council Independent Audit Committee.
